Patriot's Run & Paddle

Santa Rosa Beach, FL

First things first, NEVER FORGET.  This is most definitely a Patriot’s Day event – a morning of contemplation and commemoration.  But also one of celebration… celebration of the indomitable American spirit and the knowledge that we live in the greatest country on this earth.

The Patriot’s Run & Paddle is a collaboration between RUN/SUP and the Rotorhead 30A Running Company.  As customary with the Patriot’s Run & Paddle, there will be three distinct events offered on race morning.

PATRIOT’S CHALLENGE.  The Patriot’s Challenge is a SUP-Run-SUP, consisting of a ~2.5K SUP race + a 9.11K trail run.  The SUP portion commences at the WaterColor pedestrian bridge adjacent the BoatHouse Paddle Club, and proceeds across Western Lake to the western side of Western Lake, and then returns to "the point:" an outcropping of land onboard Grayton Beach State Park.  "The Point" serves as the start/finish line for the 9.11K run.  Paddlers will exit the water, stage their board and paddle, and then commence the 9.11K trail run.  Upon completing the run, participants will grab their board and make the short'ish .25 mile trek back to the WaterColor pedestrian bridge.  Aside from the small detour to the 9.11K course trailhead, the SUP portion essentially follows the same course as the stand-alone 2.5K SUP race.  This should be an awesome event!  Please bring handheld waterbottles or hydration packs for this race.  It will likely be warm!

5K RUN.  The 5K run takes place ENTIRELY on the picturesque, paved roads of WaterColor.  This is indeed a change from last year.  This 5K course is certainly fast, for those looking for a 5K PR!  At the same time, it will be perfect for those running with a stroller as well as for walkers, and anyone else looking to maximize the enjoyment of their 5K experience.  A truly beautiful course!  The 5K trail run is a stand-alone event.

2.5K SUP RACE.  The 2.5K SUP takes place exclusively on Western Lake.  It commences at the WaterColor pedestrian bridge, and loosely follows the shore of WaterColor on the eastern portion of Western Lake to the 30A bridge.  After paddlers cross under the bridge, they continue to the western portion of Western Lake.  At the turnaround point, paddlers reverse course and complete the SUP race finishing under the WaterColor pedestrian bridge.  Scenery truly doesn’t get much prettier than this!  Like the 5K, the 2.5K SUP race is also a stand-alone event.  Want to do both the 5K run AND the 2.5K SUP race?  The start times for each should absolutely allow you to participate in both events, if you wish.

NOTE: For the Paddle Race, participants may bring their own recreational style board (12’ and under) or rent a board ($20 rental) from the BoatHouse Paddle Club for use during the race. To reserve a board, please email your contact information (name, phone number and number of boards) to info@runsup.com.  To reiterate, if you do bring your own board, it MUST be "recreational style" 12' and under.

So once again, three event options…rest assured, whichever you go with, it’s all but guaranteed to be memorable!

PLEASE NOTE: as always, first responders and active duty or retired military always get 10% off.  Just use the HERO promo code at checkout.

If you want to run, but the registration fee will truly set you back due to personal financial hardship, please know that a few registrations have been set aside for such situations.  No worries and no questions asked.  Just use the WANTTORUN promo code at checkout.  Litmus Test for you: if you can afford to eat out at a local restaurant, then this PROMO (no offense) is probably not meant for you.  This is meant for folks suffering through a no-kidding financial hardship.
